Mother of 3, Muriel did her pelvic floor training sessions with a physiotherapist after each of her three births. Although these sessions helped her keep a healthy pelvic floor, she noticed urinary leaks appearing a few years later. Because yes, pelvic floor training lasts a lifetime and concerns women of all ages! That’s when she discovered the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer and wanted to try it and share her experience with us.
- A fun and motivating at-home training routine: using visual biofeedback let her measure her progress in real time in just 15 minutes a day.
- A long-lasting solution to help maintain pelvic floor tone: the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer is a real everyday health companion, alongside in-clinic sessions.
- Tangible benefits in just 3 weeks: a clear reduction in her urgent night-time trips to the bathroom and the end of stress urinary leaks.
Hi Muriel, could you introduce yourself and explain why you started using Emy Trainer?
My name is Muriel, I’m 42 and I have 3 children. After each birth, I systematically did pelvic floor rehabilitation with a physio and a device.
My last birth was 5 years ago. I did my pelvic floor recovery properly and everything was going well. But a year or two ago, I noticed that I was getting up very frequently at night to go to the toilet, at least three times a night, and I was finding it hard to hold on when I coughed or sneezed.
That’s when I thought there was a problem. Since I had seen my gynaecologist not long before, I knew I didn’t have a prolapse.
I found myself alone at home, wondering how I was going to fix these problems. I only had two options left: do more rehabilitation with a physiotherapist and/or find another way to deal with it.
So I searched online for the different solutions available to me and found several devices, including electrostimulation devices.
I eventually came across Emy by chance. I had no idea this kind of device existed, and I thought I would do both: restart rehabilitation with a physiotherapist and use Emy Trainer as a complement.

How is your pelvic floor recovery going with Emy Trainer?
First of all, I was very pleasantly surprised by how the trainer looks. It has a lovely shape, a nice colour, it’s girly! Nothing like the physio’s device! It’s comfortable, discreet, and you can charge it easily in the evening.
It really helped me alongside my rehabilitation sessions with my healthcare professional. In the end, even the physio was impressed!
I only regretted that my physiotherapist wasn’t more involved in my care. It seemed tedious to her, and I found that a shame. Yet I knew I needed to see a healthcare professional to assess my pelvic floor condition. I needed their expertise and skills.
As for my rehabilitation with Emy Trainer, I think it’s brilliant being able to do my rehabilitation at home, in a fun way. The 15 minutes a day go by quickly, and it’s much easier than the exercises the physiotherapist prescribed.
I think it’s good to have dedicated time to take care of ourselves. It’s time you set aside for your health. For those few minutes, I knew I was going to focus on myself. And I could see my progress in real time. Biofeedback is amazing! Not only can you see whether you’re contracting properly, but you can also check your progress tracking, which is very motivating.
After the rehabilitation sessions with my healthcare professional, I continued my rehabilitation with the Emy Trainer device. And I plan to keep going for the rest of my life because there’s no way I’m letting my pelvic floor weaken and having those problems come back!
Have you noticed the effects of the device on your pelvic floor?
Yes, absolutely, very quickly! It wasn’t only with the physiotherapy sessions that I saw real improvements. So I did some of the exercises she gave me and made up for the rest with the device. It was easier for me.
I saw the effects very quickly. Within three weeks, I was no longer getting up at night. Since I’ve had the Emy device, I’ve only got up once during the night to go to the toilet. By regularly working this area and training my pelvic floor, the urinary leaks disappeared completely and I have a much better awareness of my pelvic floor.
What changes have you noticed?
I think you have more sensation during intimate moments after rehabilitation. With a firmer pelvic floor, it’s more enjoyable, and so is it for your partner!
Do you think we talk enough about urinary leaks?
Not at all! In fact, when I started talking about it at work, I realised I had two colleagues with the same problems who weren’t talking about them. In the end, it’s a common issue once you reach your 40s. A lot of women are affected.
And I thought, “No one had warned me.” Personally, it’s not a taboo topic for me, but I would have loved someone to talk to me about it! And it happens much more often than people think. After my births, I thought the matter was settled. I had done my pelvic floor training, then my abdominal rehabilitation. I had no idea that my pelvic floor would weaken.
And when problems appear, you start asking questions. I wondered if I was alone, but no! It’s just not talked about. Like breastfeeding, you’re not given enough information! For my second child, I gave birth differently and with a different team. But even so, no one told me that the pelvic floor needs training throughout life.
Now that I’m aware of that, the device is part of my life, like my toothbrush. It’s a device that helps me take care of my health and, because I find it attractive, I see it as a beauty accessory. It’s not something you should feel ashamed to use.
The women we meet often tell us that Emy is too expensive. What do you think?
I also found it expensive, but the discomfort is so significant that, for my health, I was ready to make that investment. What’s more, the device is serious and effective. It gives me the reassurance of being able to keep doing pelvic floor training at home after my physiotherapy sessions.
