Other specific situations
Do I need to do perineal rehabilitation if I give birth by cesarean section?
Yes, after a cesarean delivery you also need to do postpartum rehabilitation.
During your pregnancy, your perineum supported the growing weight of your baby, which could weaken your muscles. The Emy probe is entirely suitable in this context. Do not hesitate to consult our article on the subject for more information.
You can also discuss the subject for free with our expert physiotherapist Paul, do not hesitate to make an appointment with him so he can help you.
I am a man, can I use Emy Trainer?
The Emy perineal probe was designed for intravaginal use to allow women to re-educate their perineum. This device is reserved for female use and we do not currently market an equivalent for men.
However, you can subscribe to our offer App Emy on the mobile application “Emy – Perineum Exercises” which allows women, like men, to train their perineum. You will benefit from perineal exercises without the probe to train at home!
Can I use Emy Trainer during my period?
Yes, there are no contraindications to using Emy during your menstrual period. Just make sure to clean Emy thoroughly before and after each use.
I am visually impaired. Is using Emy suitable for me?
Our Emy probe only works with the Emy app, which you can download for free from the Play Store or Apple Store and use on your smartphone or tablet.
Can you install the app on the smartphone or tablet of someone close to you?
Our app has a voice command that tells you when to contract and relax your perineum during exercises.
We also recommend that you contact a healthcare professional who could support you in using Emy and during rehabilitation sessions. I also recommend another product which might suit you, it is a probe that works without an application.
Can I use Emy Trainer during my pregnancy?
Congratulations on your happy event! We do not recommend the use of the Emy probe during pregnancy, because for obvious ethical reasons, the probe has not been tested on pregnant women. You can, however, follow the “Childbirth Preparation” training program available on the Emy application and which is carried out without a probe.
The probe is a medical device developed and recognized by health professionals which takes its place following childbirth ! The most common is to start perineal rehabilitation sessions 6 to 8 weeks after giving birth, after having carried out a perineal assessment with your healthcare professional.
Do not hesitate to consult the testimonials of our postpartum users and the benefits they felt with Emy Trainer, they are the ones who talk about it best > on our blog and on youtube.
Use and function
Is Emy Trainer easy to use?
Emy Trainer was designed and designed by and for women, with the help of health professionals. Light and soft, it is pleasant to use and is made of materials that provide confidence and softness.
It is the shortest smart pelvic floor trainer for home biofeedback. Its tight center provides optimal support and comfort. It is made up of an elongated part (introduced into the vagina) and a round part (serving as a limit for insertion and prehension).
To facilitate insertion, our lubricant water-based is your ally.
Does Emy Trainer detect bad contractions?
Emy Trainer does not detect bad contractions. We prefer to refer you to a healthcare professional, because only they can tell you if you are contracting your perineum correctly. There are several types of bad contractions (glutes, thighs, abs, etc.) and no technology will be 100% reliable in detecting false movements. This is a feature that we deliberately do not have in our medical device so as not to mislead you.
In the mobile application, you will find instructions for properly contracting your perineum and successfully performing your exercises in the “Help & Advice” tab > “Contract my perineum properly” or on our blog. You should not contract any muscle other than your perineum. To make sure, place your hands directly on your buttocks, thighs and abdominals to check that they are relaxed. If you are unsure about your contraction, we recommend that you consult a healthcare professional.
When using the probe, should you contract the perineum as hard as possible or contract it normally?
Strength training at the start of your sessions allows you to calibrate the probe to your strength for the day. This allows the application to adapt the difficulty of the following exercises to your state of fatigue.
You must therefore contract your perineum normally during strength exercise. Your perineum will in fact tone up naturally with time and training. And as a strong perineum is not necessarily an effective perineum and vice versa, the absence of symptoms is the best indicator to take into account.
Is it possible to do the exercises with Emy Trainer standing up?
Yes of course ! You can do your exercises standing up with the Emy probe. If you are at the start of rehabilitation, it is possible that the exercises will be harder to perform in this position or that you will have the impression that the probe does not fit in your vagina. If this is the case, start doing several sessions in the semi-recumbent position and as soon as you start to feel the first effects in terms of your tone, try changing position again. When your perineum is more toned, you should notice a difference. Don’t hesitate to give us feedback on your progress!
Does Emy Trainer strengthen all the muscles of the pelvic floor?
Emy Trainer aims to work theset of perineal muscles. During a perineal contraction, all the muscles of the pelvic floor work in synergy. Rather than electrically stimulating a specific muscle, Emy Trainer's approach is to promote overall training of the pelvic floor.
This method reflects the realistic demands of everyday life and ensures the activation of appropriate muscles. The aim is to strengthen the perineum as a whole, thus promoting better functionality and optimal support of the pelvic organs.
You can also discuss the subject for free with our expert physiotherapist Paul, do not hesitate to make an appointment with him.
What is biofeedback technology?
Emy Trainer uses biofeedback technology, a method classically used by health professionals and complementary to electrostimulation.
Unlike electrostimulation which is passive, biofeedback allows active work. The Emy probe allows you to view your perineal contractions in real time on the phone screen, promoting awareness of your contractions. You can also track your progress over time on the app. Biofeedback does not send an electric current and allows you to obtain visible results more quickly than electrostimulation.
You can consult our content if you wish to delve deeper into the subject > What is perineal biofeedback? And Which perineal rehabilitation method is right for me?
You can also discuss the subject for free with our expert physiotherapist Paul, do not hesitate to make an appointment with him so he can help you.
What is the difference between biofeedback and electrostimulation?
Emy works exclusively with biofeedback, an active method where you voluntarily contract your pelvic floor muscles (more information).
Electrostimulation, on the other hand, is a passive method that sends electrical impulses to stimulate muscles (more information).
With Emy's biofeedback, you can view your contractions in real time on the app, train with fun exercises and track your progress. This approach generally allows for faster and more visible results than electrostimulation. Biofeedback is often used in addition to electrostimulation by specialists in pelvic floor rehabilitation.
Also find all the advice by Paul Grandemange, physiotherapist specializing in pelvic floor rehabilitation, to choose your biofeedback device. You can also discuss the subject with him for free, do not hesitate to make an appointment with him so he can help you.
Is Emy Trainer reimbursed by social security?
Emy is a biofeedback medical device allowing women to take part in their perineal rehabilitation sessions.
This innovative technology has largely proven itself through clinical trials, but is not yet reimbursed by social security. Our probe is recommended by many healthcare professionals across Europe. Some mutual insurance companies offer partial reimbursement for connected medical devices. We invite you to inquire with your mutual insurance company.
You can obtain a quote to submit to your mutual insurance company by simply clicking here.

Wellness and ease of use
How to facilitate the insertion of Emy Trainer?
You can definitely use a lubricant with Emy Trainer to improve your comfort during exercises or facilitate insertion. We also recommend that you use the one available on our website specially adapted.
In all cases, it is important to choose a water-based lubricant, as silicone or oil-based lubricants can damage the silicone coating of the probe. We also advise you to choose a lubricant that is both water-based and hypoallergenic to avoid any irritation.
If you experience constant and/or persistent pain during use, this is not normal, we recommend that you consult a healthcare professional.
What is the recommended position for performing the exercises?
The ideal position for using Emy is semi-reclined. Lie down comfortably, raise your neck (using a pillow, for example), and spread your thighs. Place your phone at thigh level to minimize any interference with the Bluetooth signal.
Always keep a gap between your thighs so that the very low-intensity Bluetooth waves can communicate with the phone. For optimal use, when inserting the trainer, make sure the brightest part of the indicator light in the hollow of the trainer is facing the ceiling. Do not cover the tip of the trainer with your hands. Covering the external white part (which contains the Bluetooth antenna) can cause signal loss.
In theory, there is no need to hold or move the trainer during your exercises.
The trainer slips out during my sessions, what should I do?
In theory, there is no need to hold or move the trainer during your exercises. Covering the external white part (which contains the Bluetooth antenna) can cause signal loss.
Emy adapts to all body types: depending on your anatomy, the external part may protrude more or less from your vagina. If the trainer comes out during your contractions, you may be pushing instead of contracting. Do not hesitate to consult a healthcare professional to ensure proper execution of your contractions.
We also recommend continuing your exercises. After a few sessions, your pelvic floor will become stronger, and you should notice an improvement in the trainer’s stability.
It is also possible that you are using too much lubricant, which could explain why the Emy trainer slips out. In this case, try using less lubricant.

How do the indicator lights work?
The behavior of the indicator lights on the probe has different meanings:
- Slow repeated oscillations in the hollow of the probe: the probe is on and trying to connect to the mobile app.
- Light off in the hollow of the probe: the probe is in standby mode.
- Short flash every 3 seconds in the hollow of the probe: the probe is connected to the app.

What is the battery life of Emy Pump?
With a full charge, Emy Pump offers a battery life of around 2.5 hours in standard mode. However, this duration may be longer depending on various factors (such as the selected suction power, the length of each pumping session, and the frequency of use of the breast pump).
This can allow you, over a day of use, to enjoy several additional hours of hands-free time, because we know how precious every moment of freedom is for a mom!
Care and cleaning
How to care for Emy and its case?
Emy Trainer is very easy to maintain. Simply clean it with mild soap and water (do not use any abrasive products). The trainer is completely waterproof and has a smooth surface for hygiene reasons, so you can fully immerse Emy Trainer in water during cleaning.
As a precaution, we recommend not using your Emy trainer in water (bath, sea, etc.). Also, avoid using it in environments that are too cold or too hot (below 0°C or above 40°C).
If you are prone to infections, clean Emy before and after each use with an antibacterial cleanser for intimate accessories, with a neutral pH. You can find one here.
Before storing Emy in its case, make sure it is completely dry. To clean the case, simply remove the trainer and wipe it with a disinfectant wipe. Do not wet the case and avoid storing it in a place that is too cold or too hot (below 0°C or above 40°C).
Practical tip: To preserve your Emy trainer’s battery life, if you are not using it for a long time, make sure to recharge it every 2 to 3 months.

IMPORTANT: If you previously paired the trainer directly with your phone through Bluetooth settings, please unpair it from your smartphone. The connection between the trainer and the Emy app happens automatically without prior pairing.
Is the Emy app compatible with all smartphones?
The Emy app is compatible with all smartphones and tablets running Android 6 or later and iOS 14 or later.
Does the app require an internet connection to work?
The trainer connects to the app via Bluetooth. You can use your trainer without an internet connection. Some content may not be available without internet, but you can still perform your exercises without any problem.
How can I make sure I don’t forget any of my sessions?
We’ve thought of everything to help you avoid forgetting! You can set up training reminders to get alerts directly on your smartphone via the Emy app.
On the home screen, click on your program to activate your reminders and set the days and times when notifications will appear on your smartphone.
Is Bluetooth transmission safe?
The Emy Trainer uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, which complies with current medical device standards. The signals emitted by the external part of the probe (outside the body) are very low in power.
The signals emitted by the Emy probe are 1,000 times weaker than those from your phone in your pocket.
Application functions/modes
How were the games developed?
The Emy mobile application was developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals. The fun exercises offered in the application are based on therapeutic protocols classically used in perineal rehabilitation, the effectiveness of which is scientifically proven.
What is strength exercise for?
Strength training at the start of your sessions allows you to calibrate the probe to your strength for the day. This allows the application to adapt the difficulty of the following exercises to your state of fatigue.
Measuring strength has no bearing on your progress. And as a strong perineum is not necessarily an effective perineum and vice versa, the absence of symptoms is the best indicator to take into account.
How does Advanced mode work?
The Emy application offers an "Advanced" training mode which allows you to specifically work on a type of contraction, or perineal relaxation.
This training mode is only accessible with the probe connected. To access it, click on "Start a session", select "With the probe", continue in the following screens to connect the probe to the application then in the screen with the game worlds, click on "Advanced Mode".
After a calibration phase at the start of the exercise, all you have to do is follow the white curve, the goal being that the point remains inside this curve to best succeed in the exercise. Here (unlike guided mode), you can choose the type of contraction you want to work on, you can scroll left or right through the small white circles at the bottom of the screen to select the one you want.
Above each circle, you can choose different difficulty levels for each type of contraction. Do not hesitate to be accompanied by a health professional if necessary.
What do the different training programs mean?
Training programs define the frequency and duration of your sessions.
A questionnaire will be offered to you upon registration to define the program best suited to your needs among:
- Postpartum : 2 sessions of 20 minutes per week
- Urinary leaks : 5 sessions of 10 minutes per week
- Prevention : 2 sessions of 10 minutes per week
- Descent of organs : 5 sessions of 15 minutes per week
- Improvement reports : 2 sessions of 15 minutes per week
- Overall tone : 3 sessions of 10 minutes per week
- Preparing for childbirth (without catheter) : 2 sessions of 15 minutes per week
- Standard : 3 sessions of 15 minutes per week
- Custom : allows you to choose from 1 to 7 sessions per week, from 5 to 20 minutes per session
You can change your program at any time on the app, based on your needs, availability and current goal!
Interpretation of results
What does earning medals and trophies mean?
The games we offer are based on the PERFECT Scheme method, which is the method commonly used by healthcare professionals.
This method relies on a sequence of different types of contractions:
- Endurance
- Speed
- Repetition
Earning rewards at the end of your session indicates that the exercises were performed correctly and provides feedback on your personal progress.
Studies have shown that once a certain level is reached consistently across the different indicators (endurance, speed, repetition), a reduction in urinary leakage is observed.
These rewards are therefore based on your own progress and indicate a well-trained pelvic floor.
Why can't I obtain the trophy in one or more categories?
The goal of the exercises is to see a progression in your indicators and a reduction in your symptoms. So it absolutely doesn't matter if you can't get the trophy in one or more categories. Stay motivated!
How long does it take to see results?
Since every woman is different, results may appear more or less quickly. Some women notice an improvement in their symptoms after just 3 weeks of using Emy. For others, it may take a little longer.
The important thing is that with Emy, you can progress at your own pace.
However, if after 8 weeks of exercises you do not notice any improvement in your symptoms, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional to ensure that you are performing the exercises correctly.
I do not see any improvement in my indicators or my symptoms.
The goal of the exercises is to see a progression in your indicators and a reduction in your urinary leakage symptoms. So it absolutely doesn't matter if you can't get the trophy in one or more categories, but stay motivated!
If no improvement is noted after more than 8 weeks of exercises at a rate of 3 to 4 sessions per week, it is possible that you do not fully control the contraction of the perineum or that the reason lies elsewhere. It is then recommended to consult a health professional.
From one session to the next, the exercises become too difficult
If your sessions are too close together and your perineum is very fragile, it may need to rest. Space out your sessions to give your perineal muscles time to recover.
The difficulty of the sessions is adapted to your strength for the day and based on your previous results. If you had a lot of success on day 1, on day 2 your exercises will be more difficult.
If you had a successful session (gold medal, trophy), the next session will be more difficult (more contractions to perform and maintain). Conversely, in the event that you have not successfully completed a session, the next session will be at the same difficulty level or at a lower level.
Use without probe
Can I use the Emy mobile application without the probe?
Yes, you can absolutely use the Emy application without the probe to do your exercises. We offer several offers, do not hesitate to download the app for free to discover them!

How is Emy compatible with Mazet’s BioStim?
We wanted to partner with the company Mazet Santé, an expert in the design and manufacturing of medical products. The Emy probe is compatible with BioStim, an electrostimulation and biofeedback device dedicated to urogynecological rehabilitation. All BioStim machines marketed since January 2019 are compatible with this option.
You can create a patient file to have access to the monitoring of all sessions carried out on the device (BFB, electrostimulation, classic probe, connected, etc.).
For more information on the BioStim option, we invite you to contact the Mazet Santé company directly.
How can I relax the personalized protocol for my patient?
It is not yet possible to add relaxation to personalized protocols for patients. Advanced training mode is not based on the same protocol (PERFect Scheme) as the mini-games. There is therefore no monitoring associated with the relaxation indicator (as there is for endurance, speed, repetition to monitor progress). If you want your patients to specifically work on relaxation, you must for the moment invite them to use the “Advanced” mode.

Connection and Mobile Application
How do I connect the trainer to the mobile app?
Here are the steps to connect the trainer to the mobile app:
- Activate your smartphone's Bluetooth,
- Activate your smartphone's GPS position (for older Android smartphones only),
- Open the Emy mobile app
- Tap on "Start my training session"
- Select "With my kegel trainer Emy"
- Shake the trainer to turn it on.
- Continue through the following screens, and after tapping "I’m ready," the app should quickly connect to the trainer without any prior pairing.
IMPORTANT: If you previously paired the trainer directly with your phone through Bluetooth settings, please unpair it from your smartphone. The connection between the trainer and the Emy app happens automatically without prior pairing.
Emy Trainer disconnects from the app during my sessions
The recommended position for performing your exercises and avoiding disconnections is as follows:
Lie down, keep your legs slightly apart, and place your smartphone at thigh level. Make sure to always maintain a small gap between your thighs so that the Bluetooth signal can properly communicate with your phone.
For optimal use, when inserting the trainer, we recommend making sure that the brightest part of the indicator light in the hollow of the trainer is facing upwards toward the ceiling.
Please do not cover the tip of the trainer with your hands. Covering the outer white part (which contains the Bluetooth antenna) may cause signal loss.
In principle, there is no need to hold or move the trainer during your exercises. Also make sure that your trainer is sufficiently charged.
If you notice frequent disconnections during your sessions, you can perform the following test:
Instead of inserting the trainer vaginally, hold the trainer in your hand and simulate contractions with your hand. If no disconnections occur, we recommend following the advice above.
If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service via our contact form.
Technical Assistance
I can’t charge my Emy Trainer
Have you followed the following charging protocol?
- I charged the probe until the light turned off.
- I used the provided cable.
- I used at least two power adapters and two
different wall outlets. - I tested charging via USB directly on a
computer.
Please try charging using different outlets and in different ways. We have already found that some power adapters are not strong enough or defective and do not allow the probe to charge correctly. It is also possible that the wall outlet you are using is defective or perhaps too old.
Try charging Emy for 2 hours: when you plug it in, the blue light on the white part of the probe should remain steady and turn off when the probe is fully charged.
If the problem persists, please contact our customer service via our contact form.
Emy Trainer doesn’t seem to measure my contractions correctly
Start a session by holding Emy in your hand. Does the probe detect contractions when you squeeze your hand? If not, please contact our customer service via our contact form.
If it does, start a session with the probe inserted, following these instructions:
The recommended and optimal position for using Emy is semi-reclined. Lie down comfortably, raise your neck (for example, with a cushion), and spread your thighs. Place your phone at thigh level to minimize interference with the Bluetooth signal.
Always keep a gap between your thighs so that the very low-intensity Bluetooth signals can communicate with your phone.
For optimal use, when inserting the probe, make sure that the brightest part of the light in the cavity of the probe is facing the ceiling.
If during a session you feel that the probe isn’t detecting your contractions properly, you can slightly adjust its position if you think it’s not placed correctly. Keep in mind that if the probe moves between the calibration position (the strength exercise at the beginning of each session) and the rest of the exercises, this could explain the behavior, as the calibration was performed on a different initial force.
- 3 rapid flashes in the hollow of the probe: the probe’s battery level is low and needs to be recharged.
When the probe is charging, the light on the white part of the probe is on and steady. It turns off when the probe is fully charged.
The light does not turn on during charging
Remove the probe from its case and shake it to turn it on.
If the light in the cavity of the probe is flashing, put the probe back on charge and check that the light turns on. The light stays on during charging and turns off when the probe is fully charged.
If the light still does not turn on during charging or the probe does not turn on when shaken, please contact our customer service via the contact form.
