« Grâce à Emy j’ai pu rectifier mon problème de rectocèle »

“Thanks to Emy, I was able to correct my rectocele problem”

We often talk about urinary incontinence on this blog, but today we’re talking about rectocele. The definition of a rectocele is simple. It is a hernia formed by the rectum into the vagina. This hernia is usually noticed during straining, but also at rest, due to gravity. Ghislaine had to deal with a rectocele 2 and a half years ago and was actively looking for a curative treatment. She then chose to use the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer and it seems that Emy Trainer has significantly improved her symptoms.

  • The power of at-home biofeedback: Ghislaine discovered that active muscle strengthening could be an alternative to invasive surgery for her rectocele.
  • A training routine with no constraints: She found the perfect balance by doing her pelvic floor exercises in 10 minutes from her sofa.
  • The pride of no longer relying on “pads”: She’s enjoying her regained freedom from surgery and backup solutions.

Why use Emy Trainer?

Ghislaine, can you introduce yourself in a few words?

I’m 53, have 2 children in their twenties, and I’ve been married for 30 years now

Why did you start using Emy?

More than 2 years ago, I had to undergo a hysterectomy and then gallbladder removal. It was following this surgery, as well as a few years of constipation problems, that I ended up one day with a rectocele.

I first saw a gastroenterologist who referred me to a surgeon for another operation.

The surgeon didn’t want to operate because he felt there were other solutions to try before this invasive treatment. That’s how I heard about pelvic floor training and biofeedback. So I did pelvic floor training sessions with a physiotherapist, which helped me get a stronger pelvic floor, but to keep it that way I needed to continue this training regularly.

Pelvic floor recovery with Emy Trainer

I started researching online and that’s how I discovered the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer. And since I’ve had the trainer, I couldn’t do without it!

More seriously, thanks to the trainer I was able to correct my rectocele problem. I’ve realised that I need the trainer every day; when I miss a few sessions, I feel it straight away. So I make sure to use it 3 times a week for 10 minutes. And I find it great to be able to do my training sessions from my sofa or my bed, it doesn’t create any constraints.

I even talk about it around me, to my colleagues or my friends who suffer from urinary incontinence; I recommend Emy to them. As my gastroenterologist once told me when I was talking to him about Emy Trainer, “It’s fantastic, we now have something other than Tena pads to offer women!” and it’s true that we can find other treatments than what we’ve been offered in adverts for years!

What would you say to someone who suffers from a rectocele?

I would tell them that there are solutions to try before considering surgery as a treatment. And I would add that you need to become aware of your pelvic floor and take care of it. Misconceptions about the pelvic floor are still very much around, it’s crazy! Yet urinary issues or rectal prolapse can absolutely be treated. And of course, this isn’t only for women who have just given birth or who are going through menopause. In short, don’t hesitate to talk to your gynaecologist or a healthcare professional and, above all, set up a pelvic floor routine as early as possible to help prevent organ prolapse!

A QUICK UPDATE 8 MONTHS AFTER COLLECTING GHISLAINE’S TESTIMONIAL!

I still use the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer, spacing out the sessions a little more, but I’m trying to keep up the pace of one a week. I noticed that if I left too much time between two sessions, I lost strength, especially. I need to keep up the sessions so I don’t have any issues. I’m still very satisfied with the trainer

What you should take away from Ghislaine’s testimonial:

  • Biofeedback as an alternative to surgery: Ghislaine’s experience shows that a rectocele is not inevitably a surgical case. By using biofeedback to relieve her symptoms, she proves that actively strengthening your muscular support can help you avoid invasive treatments, whatever your age.

  • The importance of long-term maintenance: The pelvic floor is a muscle that needs consistency. As Ghislaine points out after 8 months, maintaining one training session a week is essential to avoid “losing strength” and to keep symptoms from coming back.

  • A lasting solution instead of pads: Rather than putting up with the daily use of “pads”, the Emy Trainer device offers complete independence, helping you care for yourself with no constraints from the comfort of your sofa
