3 super mums, 3 testimonials, it’s the postpartum round-up!

So many of you write to us to share your testimonials, and we’re so grateful! We couldn’t ignore all these messages, so today we’re bringing you a special testimonial from 3 super mums: Samantha, Rebecca and Clémence. 3 women, 3 testimonials, 3 different experiences of pelvic floor training with the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer. It’s the postpartum compilation!

The essentials of their journey:

  • Three mums, three stories: Discover the journeys of Samantha, Rebecca and Clémence, who share their everyday life after giving birth.
  • The challenge of leaks and sport: From simply wanting to stay toned to needing to reduce urinary leaks so you can get back to sport or sneeze without fear.
  • The at-home solution: How Emy trainer helped them fit recovery into their busy lives as mums and finally regain confidence in their bodies.

Pelvic floor recovery after childbirth with Emy Trainer

Can you introduce yourselves and explain why you started using Emy Trainer?

Samantha : My name is Samantha, I’m 27, and I decided to use Emy Trainer after my postpartum pelvic floor recovery sessions to keep it as toned as possible after giving birth. I really wanted to give myself the best chance of strengthening my pelvic floor properly and reducing the risk of prolapse later on.

Rebecca : My name is Rebecca, I’m 38. I had two pregnancies fairly close together. My first daughter will be 3 in a week and my second is just 8 months old. I didn’t do my recovery sessions after my first pregnancy because I was too lazy to go to the midwife (yes, I know, not great!). For my second pregnancy, when I was due to start my recovery sessions, I went away on holiday for 2 months and then COVID-19 hit, along with all the complications we know about.

My partner bought me the trainer because I struggle to hold in wind and I have some urinary leakage as well. I felt a certain discomfort when I sneezed or made any effort. It was a bit like giving birth all over again! It was extremely uncomfortable and I was really afraid it would get worse and turn into prolapse. To get back to a calm sex life and deal with these issues, for me the solution was the Emy trainer.

Clémence : My name is Clémence, I had my first birth with a fairly rough delivery and a complete tear of the pelvic floor. During my second pregnancy, I started having leakage as early as 4 months pregnant! So I did manual training throughout my pregnancy with a midwife.

2 years after my birth, I got back into sport seriously. That’s when I realised how much damage there was. In one CrossFit session I would soak through a sanitary towel! It’s the kind of moment where you panic a bit and tell yourself it can only get worse if you don’t strengthen everything quickly. After having a urodynamic assessment, my only problem was my pelvic floor… So I did a year of training with a physiotherapist and unfortunately the results weren’t obvious. I then bought the Emy Trainer pelvic floor trainer after lockdown and I work with the trainer almost every day!

How did your pelvic floor training with Emy Trainer go?

Samantha : It’s very simple and intuitive to use!

Rebecca : At times, it was difficult. Without having done pelvic floor training with a healthcare professional, it was hard for me to find the right position and know whether my contractions were being done properly. I hope it will get better with time.

Clémence : I currently do 5 training sessions a week. I find it easy to use and very fun!

When did you notice the first effects of Emy Trainer on your pelvic floor?

Samantha : I noticed the first effects from the 3rd session! I have a lot less urinary leakage when I cough or make an effort. It’s finally possible for me to get back into sport with peace of mind.

Rebecca : Unfortunately, I’m not consistent enough to see results. Getting back into it is difficult because I don’t have much time with my girls. But I can feel an improvement during sex.

Clémence : After two months, I’m seeing small results. I can visualise my pelvic floor better and I have more confidence in me. But for now, I still have to wear pads when I do sport.

Urinary leakage, a taboo subject, even after childbirth

Do you think enough is said about urinary leakage?

Samantha : Not at all, even after postpartum pelvic floor recovery after childbirth!

Rébecca : People talk about it more and more among older women, but not at all after giving birth.

Clémence : Not at all! It’s a taboo subject, even though it’s not our fault. People briefly mention small leaks, but they never dare to put words to the risk of prolapse (or pelvic organ prolapse), even though it’s a reality for so many mums

So, happy?

The women we meet often tell us that Emy Trainer is too expensive, what do you think?

Samantha : It’s true that the device isn’t accessible to everyone, even if there’s the option to pay in three instalments. But given the results, I don’t regret anything.

Rébecca : I agree. It would be great if health insurers and social security covered part of it. I’m so happy my partner gave it to me!

Clémence : I think the device is worth the price. You get the device, the app, it’s a very practical system.

One last question: Emy in 3 words?

Samantha : Effective, practical, quick.

Rébecca : Intuitive, beautiful, simple.

Clémence : Simple, discreet and fun.

What to remember from their experiences:

  • Breaking the silence around the taboo: Whether it’s urinary leakage or uncontrollable gas, these mums remind us that these problems are not inevitable and that you should never be ashamed to talk about them
  • The playful side as a driving force: The secret to their success lies in the fun, motivating side of the app, which turns pelvic floor training into a moment for yourself rather than a medical chore
  • An investment for the future: As Clémence’s journey shows, looking after your pelvic floor even long after childbirth with Emy trainer helps stabilise your situation and prevent symptoms from getting worse with sport.
